Nathaly J. Vermette is the managing partner of the Andrews Robichaud Montreal office and has been practicing law in the city of Montreal, province of Quebec for over 15 years. She is an intellectual property and business lawyer as well as a registered trade-mark agent with and international clientele ranging from pharmaceutical, life sciences/biotech, information technology, communications, media, fashion and entertainment. Nathaly's services include searching, filing, prosecution and registration of trade-marks, copyrights and industrial designs in Canada and abroad (through a highly skilled network of international associates), trade-mark portfolio management and domain name issues. She also has extensive experience in drafting a wide range of commercial agreements and corporate transactions to support her clients' activities, including incorporations, shareholders' agreements, share and asset purchase agreements, mergers and acquisitions, corporate reorganizations, commercial leases, and various service agreements. Nathaly has also assisted several clients with Canadian privacy legislation compliance. Nathaly received her Bachelor of Civil Law degree from Universite de Montreal in 1993 and became a member of the Quebec Bar in 1994. While in private practice, she pursued her Masters of Law (LL.M.) degree at Universit de Montreal, which she completed in February 2000. The subject matter of her thesis relates to internet domain names and trade-marks in an international context (" Domain names in the realm of Trade-mark Law "). She has published articles and has made numerous presentations on intellectual property issues related to the Internet. Nathaly is an active member of the Federation of Defense and Corporate Counsel ("FDCC") and of the International Trademark Association ("INTA"). She was also Chair of the Intellectual Property Law Committee, Tort Trial & Insurance Practice Section of the American Bar Association ("ABA") for bar years 2006-2007 and 2007-2008 where she was instrumental in organizing high level legal conferences. She is currently an active member of the ABA TIPS leadership and is Chair of the Distance Learning Committee for bar year 2008-2009. In her spare time, Nathaly enjoys swimming, snow shoeing, cross-country skiing, cycling, scuba diving and snorkeling, kayaking, canoeing, gardening, cooking and traveling.
